Alphabet Boards
As a typographer who is also a metaphysical enthusiast, a free thinker, and an avid experimenter of unorthodox creative methods, I’ve always been fascinated with spirit boards.
I refer to my specific creations as alphabet boards, communication boards, or talking boards. I only refer to them as spirit boards if the context is appropriate and I absolutely never call them Ouija boards.
Most systems of divination act like mirrors which offer us the opportunity to see our subconscious reflected back. The alphabet board in particular can be a powerful pathway towards peeling back the layers.
The boards I make are generally 12 x 12" or 12 x 18", about 3/4" to 1" thick, and made from a variety of different hard woods like Cherry, Elm, Swiss Pear, or Dark Walnut.

One-of-a-Kind Custom Designs
Although I do have a few signature design concepts that I replicate, they always come out differently based on the board itself, and no two boards are ever really alike.
Sometimes I work with a pyrography pen, sometimes I carve the letters out with a dremel and fill them back in with epoxy resin. All boards are sanded down to be completely smooth on both sides.
Planchettes are never included. I rarely make them. The act of using a planchette with any of these boards will be part of a personal journey that is unique to you. Let the search for your own unique planchette be the first step you take.
