Household Stories - Grimm Colouring Book
Grimm Fairy Tales were not originally meant for children, they were aimed at adults. The early editions of Nursery and Household Tales contained remarkably dark elements. The stories routinely included sex, violence, incest, and copious footnotes. In this publication, Pallor Publishing brings you the artwork associated with the stories in black and white so that you can colour the images in any twisted way you so desire.
When Covid-19 hit us in early 2020, it foiled plans to re-publish this book with a proper launch. That's ok, because the original publication and launch was foiled by an apartment fire in 2014.
During the first lockdown in March 2020, I hosted a colouring contest with this book, and now with the second lockdown upon us, I'm offering the entire thing for free.

A collection of twelve Old-Time Radio scripts from the 1930s and 40s, featuring the best of horror, mystery and suspense, but this book isn’t just about the under-celebrated form of entertainment known as the radio drama. It’s also largely about addressing the vastly forgotten potential of the printed page, and exploring what it means for a tangible book to exist in a digital world.
Each story's typography mimics and mocks the feelings of the reader as they make their way through the script. Fun at times and frustrating at others, this book will have you turning and flipping it around as you read through its pages. Bring a mirror.
All proceeds from this project are donated to Old-Time Radio preservation initiatives.
boomDEAD is available in Hamilton bookstores as well as on Amazon.ca and Amazon.com in the form of paperback and eBook.
In 2013, Pallor Publishing takes relief prints and illustrations from past centuries and puts them out of context, reframing them around a silly question containing the letter Q.
